Professor Patricia M. Davidson is currently a Vice Chancellor’s Fellow at the University of New South Wales. She has served as Vice Chancellor and President of the University of Wollongong and dean of the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing in Baltimore in the United States. In 2021, she was the recipient of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) Distinguished Leader Award. This honour celebrates her exceptional contributions to the advancement of global health worldwide.

As a global leader in nursing, health care, and advocacy, Professor Davidson’s work focuses on person-centred care delivery and the improvement of the lives living with chronic and complex conditions. She is particularly focussed on how social determinants of health moderate health outcomes and is nationally and internationally recognised as a leader in nursing, health and medical science. Beginning her career as a registered nurse, Professor Patricia M. Davidson’s career spans over four decades where she has witnessed many advances in health and medical science. Her commitment to evidence-based, person-centred care spans the domains of policy, practice, education, and research defining her multifaceted achievements and a commitment to human rights and equity.

A key feature of her career has been to develop innovative and acceptable models of interventions targeting at risk populations. Her achievements have been recognised by several honorific awards including fellowship of the American Academy of Nursing, the Australian College of Nursing, Royal College of Nursing, Preventive Cardiovascular Nursing Association, Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences and the American Heart Association. She has also received honorary doctorates from Kings College London, Mahidol University, Thailand and the University of Technology Sydney.

Formally joining the academy in 2003, Professor Davidson has over 730 publications in Scopus. Her H -Index is 61 (Scopus) and 90 in Google Scholar and her i-10 Index is 558 and she has published 36 book chapters. She has been successful in receiving funding as a principal investigator including from the National Institutes of Health in the US, the National Health & Medical Research Council, and the Australian Research Council.
